Thinking of Auden's Col Pass

Hello again, since you are reading it. I've mulling over the thought of chancing Auden's Col, but in not so good looking mountaineers way. The economy is tumbling and money is scarce. But my inability to afford costly mountaineering gears will not deter me from attempting this legendary trail that sways in between towering Himalayas peaks that stares at you like Almighty Himself.

When J.B.Auden went about his surveying business in Indian Himalayas he had a caravan of porters, helpers and every body who could hike. They must've been well geared. FYI,  Auden's Col trek is a mountain pass and touches a height of 5400 meters. It is windy and cold out there and one has to camp at scary Khatling glacier and negotiate it's crevices with full attention.

I guess my time has come. Let me go Auden's way and explore his Col.

Mayali Pass - Lost world

When you begin trekking for Mayali Pass from Guttu village and onwards - you will find the dwindling populations in villages in higher regions. People are rushing to cities making these Himalyan region more barren.

For the above reason Mayali Pass trek is the one where you get a mix of everything. Remote villages and their culture, difficult Mayali Pass to cross through, the dense Himalayan forests infested with Black Bears & Leopards and the pristine Himalayan peaks that stares at you like a Big Daddy. The trail is 85-90 km where you start from Ghuttu and end up in Gaurikund - the starting point for Kedarnath shrine trek.

You would need good quality trekking gears to accomplish Mayali Pass. At the pass you may need advanced mountaineering equipments like Crampons, Gaiter, Ice-axe to make through successfully. Carry dark eye shades to avoid White-out. Carry enough energy supplies as the hike upto Mayali Pass is strenuous. Mostly uphill climb would take you from 1800 meters to 5200 meters in 5 days. A gain of about 3500 meters.

Source of Ganges

The source of Ganges trek is the a trekking trail that allows you to reach mid altitude of Himalayas and have a close encounter with big peaks.

The source of Ganges trek should be elongated by doing the Nandanvan and Tapovan corridors. The Gomukh Nandanvan Tapovan trek is one of the more simpler entry towards the glacial region of central Himalayas. When you do this trek you get to witness a bunch of high peaks. Bhagirathi, Shivling, Jogin ae just some of them. And when you reach Gomukh you encounter the second largest glacier in the world outside Antarctica. Gangotri glacier is massive scaling down from the peaks of Bhagirathi mountains.
